Here are some examples of the fun shared through October!
October is National Rideshare month and we usually celebrate with the Way 2 GO MAINE Challenge. And even though everything is different in 2020, we still want to connect as a GO MAINE community, inspire one another, and Celebrate the Great Green Commute with you!
So, for Way 2 GO MAINE 2020, we’ve decided to simplify things for folks during these uncertain times – but still with plenty of prizes, green commutes and fun from October 1-31:
- Team Spirit Race: for the workplace with employees who post-the-most. Post your green commute photos, videos and stories – plus #Way2GOMAINE and your workplace name – on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Remember walking, bicycling, working from home, taking the bus or train, and carpooling and vanpooling all count. The winning organization gets an award, social media shout-outs, and bragging rights, of course!
- $50 Social Media Post Winners Every Week: So share your pics on social media with #Way2GOMAINE for our weekly showcase categories:
- Week 1: THE FAMILY THAT CARPOOLS TOGETHER… – Oct 4-10
- Week 2: WORKING HARD FROM HOME – Oct 11-17
- Week 3: ESSENTIAL WORKERS GO GREEN – Oct 18-24
- Week 4: 100% HUMAN-POWERED TRIPS- Oct 25-31
Winners will be drawn on October 1th, 18th, 25th and 31st. The Grand Prize Winner will be notified on November 1. Winners will have 24 hours to respond and accept their prizes, after whcih a new winner will be selected. All winners agree to allow GO MAINE to use their photos, home town and employer for promotional purposes only.
- New GO MAINE Members Can Win $100, too: Sign up during Way 2 GO MAINE 2020 (September 1 – October 31, 2020) and you have a chance to win $100!
- Way 2 GO MAINE Does Good When You Log Your Trips: Once our GO MAINE commuters log 1000 green trips during Way 2 GO MAINE 2020, we’ll donate another $500 to support Maine hunger relief. So make sure to log those trips in your GO MAINE account!
- Grand Prize! All Social Media Pics & Video Have a Shot at Winning $200: Share your green commute photo or video on social media — tag with #Way2GOMAINE — and you’ll be entered to win our grand prize of $200! All photos qualify.
So, whether you’re now spending your days at a home office, have a family carpool, take essential bus/train/vanpool trips, or walk or pedal to work – we want to celebrate you!

Celebrating You with Commuter Profiles:
- As a way to offer kudos for all your work and inspire others to commute another way, we’re always collecting quick commuter profiles from folks like you – and GO MAINERS in general – who walk, bike, take the bus or train, carpool or vanpool or telecommute to work. Thanks to those of you who have already submitted yours!
- You can see versions of profiles for folks we’ve developed so far in this folder . Feel free to share these to inspire your co-workers, family and friends. We’d especially like to give a shout-out to you all by sharing your commuter profiles throughout the next weeks and months – via GO MAINE’s web site, social media and for next year’s Way 2 GO MAINE Challenge.
