Commute Another Way Week

Commute Another Way Week 2010 :

Celebrate sustainable transportation choices in May by participating in Commute Another Way Week on May 17 – 21, 2010! Events are brewing and this is where you can find out about them. Bookmark this page and check back for updates.

Try “Commuting Another Way” just one day or all five. Try one commuter mode of travel or a different one each day. The more days you try the more chances you have to win big prizes.

Commute Another Way Week is Maine’s annual transportation event that promotes the use of carpools, vanpools, public transit (bus, ferry and rail), bicycling and walking as cost-effective, healthy and enjoyable alternatives to driving alone to work.

Since 1995, thousands of commuters and hundreds of employers and throughout Maine have participated in Commute Another Way Week and helped reduce air pollution and traffic congestion, conserved energy, saved money, and made Maine a better place to live and work.

Maine employers and their employees, as well as individual commuters whose employer may not be participating, are encouraged to get involved in Commute Another Way Week 2010.

In past year’s events we have recruited the participation of more than 5,000 commuters and 500 employers statewide. Together we’ve helped to reduce traffic congestion and auto emissions by eliminating 11,400 auto trips, 117,000 auto miles, over 3 tons of harmful pollution, 4,600 gallons of gasoline, and $76,000 in commuting costs (2009 event estimates)… all in a single day!

Why do it? Because healthy, economical and eco-friendly transportation choices means energy savings, improved health, less stress, higher morale and more money saved for commuters and employers.

Commute Another Way Week starts with you!
